Carly's April Blogness!
Hello pottery lovers! Hope you all had a fabulous Easter with plenty of eggs! We had a lovely couple of days off to enjoy the sunshine and scoff chocolate.
Lots of exciting times here at the studio - we have had an exceptionally busy Easter holiday, with children and adults alike enjoying some creative time. We had a pop up egg cup decorating day, which resulted in some fantastic marbled effect items, and even some Easter bummy plates (bum prints turned into cute bunny rabbits!). Also over the holiday we had 2 days where children came in from Dudley CVS to enjoy our activities. We had lots of fun with them, painting various shapes and creating items in clay. The children really enjoyed themselves, and were an absolute joy to have in the studio.
We have just announced our next project - a competition to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. We're inviting children under 16 across the Black Country to send us their drawings of the Queen through her reign. The best ones will be selected by us and transferred onto a large platter for display purposes and as a fantastic reminder of this huge celebration. Check out our Facebook post for full details.
I don't wish to blow my own trumpet (but I'm going to anyway) but I have been recognised by Keith, he of the tears and merriment on the Great Pottery Throwdown! After sharing some of my creations on Twitter, he remarked, "Very nice!!!". I nearly fainted! To celebrate this, Saz very kindly asked our neighbouring crafty person Jane, at Glass Quarter Designs, to paint me a portrait of the man himself. It is fabulous, and currently hanging next to Saz's portrait of Joe Lycett. We hope that both of them may one day put in an appearance in the studio!
