Carly's February 24 Blog!

Hey everyone! Here's your monthly update of all things Saz and pottery-tasticness!

Life continues to be nice and busy in the studio. Plenty of lovely people have been coming along to do Saz's have a go potter's wheel workshops, my hand building workshops, our new block printing classes, and lots of pottery painting and clay play has been taking place. We've even had some great birthday parties come in to celebrate and take part in some group craft. I have been busy uploading all the exciting workshops we've got planned for this year on to our Facebook Events section, whilst Saz has been updating our website and bookings page - loads to choose from for both adults and kids.

We held our first Craft Studio Open Day this month, and it was a great success. Due to the refurbishment works being carried out on the glass cone at the moment, many people have thought that the site was closed. WE ARE VERY MUCH OPEN! We want to increase the amount of visitors we get across the site and to all the craft studios, including Saz's Ceramics. Many of us, as well as holding workshops, have finished ware which we sell on site, but very few are seeing it right now. We want to encourage you all to spread the word and come along and see what we all have to offer. We are a friendly bunch of craft nuts, all highly skilled in what we do, and we aim to share the love. Due to the popularity of the Open Day, we are having another one - our Easter Open Day on Saturday 30th March, 11am - 4pm. Not only will you be able to tour the studios, you will also get chance to say 'Hi!' to the Easter Bunny (who looks remarkably like myself, except with very large, floppy ears and a fluffy tail), take part in a grand prize draw and treat yourself to the tasty offerings from Emma of Cafe2U!

Mother's Day is coming up on Sunday 10th March! Don't forget as well as finished ware gifts which you can purchase from the studio, you can also order gift vouchers direct from our website. Any amount is available, and you can add a personalised message. Thinking ahead to the school Easter holidays too, we have kids activities available to book, plus the usual slots for pottery painting and clay play. We've just found out that we have once again been successful in our application to be a supplier of activities for Dudley HAF, and have 8 sessions available for families to book on to.

Exciting commission news too! Visitors to the Red House Glass Cone Visitor Centre may have spotted Saz's large pottery cone which is used as a donation container. Stourbridge Glass Museum have spotted it, and love it so much they want one of their own! So keep those eyes peeled for another Saz cone creation appearing over the road soon!

And talking of spotting things.......have you become an otter spotter yet? Rashmi the Otter has taken up residence on site, and he's an absolute beauty! He is one of eight otters which have been created by the Art Yard in conjunction with Dudley Zoo. They are all off on tour around the Black Country, and Rashmi will be with us until May. Later in the year there will be an auction to raise money for charities which work hard to conserve otters in their natural habitats.

I'm off now then, lots to do, including sorting an Easter Bunny outfit.......
