School's out for Summer

It's a beautiful June afternoon, the birdies are twittering away in the garden, Billie's snoozing gently in the lounge (my Labrador) and all is right with world (ish!) So, what a perfect moment to fill you in on the Summer Holiday plans at Saz's Ceramics; are you sitting comfortably?

Let's begin then!

Our ever popular Clay Days are set to continue each Thursday at 11am and 2pm. If you'd like to book your child in, please contact me as soon as possible, as these get filled up quickly. Prices are £7.50 per child, £10 per adult. In each session I teach you how to make a set project, but if you'd like to freestyle, please book in for 'Clay Play', which is where you get the use of our tools, a lump of clay and you can make what you like. Here's the programme:

  1. 28.07.16 Wind chimes (makes a lovely tinkling sound in the garden!)

  2. 04.08.16 Caravan pot (good for storing nicknacks such as Lego pieces!)

  3. 11.08.16 Bird Bath (ideal for birdies or for housing trinkets & jewellery)

  4. 18.08.16 Fairy house (perfect for fairies or for keeping yarn in)

  5. 25.08.16 Beach Hut (as a plaque or as a pot; the choice is yours!)

  6. 01.09.16 Camper Van (plaque only; can be personalised to put on your door)

  7. 08.09.16 If you're not back at school by now, book in for some Clay Play fun!

Now, if you can't make it for any of the above, but would love to have a go with some clay, I'm bringing something new to the table... Dovetailing into the National Curriculum, we'll be covering aspects from History on Tuesdays. In essence, it's Clay Day with a historical twist! Same rules apply; 11am and 2pm, same price, different projects! Here's the breakdown:

  1. 26.07.16 Stone Age: Woolly Mammoth sculpture

  2. 02.08.16 Ancient Greeks: Ancient Greek vase

  3. 09.08.16 Romans: Roman Mosaic tile

  4. 16.08.16 Anglo Saxons: Rune Stones

  5. 23.08.16 Vikings: Norse chessmen

  6. 30.08.16 Children in the Victorian age: Jack-in-the-box

  7. 06.09.16 Not back at school yet? Book in for some Clay Play then!

Sounds interesting, doesn't it?! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone creates! Can't wait!

But stop... there's more!

For those of you with teenagers wanting to be creative and independent, how about considering our CLAY CAMPS which take place every Friday during the holidays? These are all day courses, running from 10am till 4pm. The cost is £30 per child over the age of 10 (younger children can attend if accompanied by an adult). In these workshops, we'll be slip casting, making a coil pot, throwing at the potter's wheel and making a slab pot. The idea is that you drop them off with a packed lunch, and let them learn whilst having fun in a relaxed environment. The time flies, believe me! Book your courses now, before the holidays start, and congratulate yourself for being organised!

And don't forget that there are twilight sessions for us adults on the 7th of July and the 4th of August! We'll be learning how to create a piece in a Folk Art style in July. Bookings are being taken now with £5 to secure your place. Have a look at our Facebook page for further details, or call me if you'd like more info.

Right, the dog's moved into the garden, so I'd better go and see what she's up to! TTFN, Saz x
