Carly's December Blogness!
Season's greetings one and all! How?? How have we got to the end of the year already?!! The last 12 months have sped by - we started the year in lockdown, our studio closed to the public, and relying on sales of our takeaway kits. This saw us through to May, when we were able to fully re-open, and we have been non-stop ever since! November and December have been our busiest months yet - lots of lovely customers through our door, doing a range of workshops - the most popular being our Potter's Wheel experience.
Couple of highlights for us in the last month - our 'Bee Kind' event & display and a visit from the Mayor of Dudley. We took our bees to Holy Trinity, Wordsley for their Christmas Market on December 4th. After spending some time assembling Saz's tree from home (with assistance from 3 Church Wardens) I carefully displayed all the lovely bees which people had decorated as part of our free 'paint a bee' to support Dudley CVS Kindness campaign. They looked amazing! Like they had landed on the tree for a rest. Many people went to see their bees on display, before Saz packed them all up again for collection from the studio.
On 8th December, we were honoured to be visited by Councillor Anne Millward, Mayor of Dudley, and Sandra Vaughan from Black Country Mental Health. They had a great time painting a couple of items from our Mindfulness range (10% of sales goes to Black Country Mental Health). Representatives from Dudley Council's Press Office came too, and a great article with photos was published on their site and in the local paper. The Mayor is a fabulous person - great sense of humour and really likes to get stuck in!
The last 2 weeks have been manic for us! So many pottery painting sessions, mince pie and painting evenings, clay workshops, school and nursery workshops, potter's wheel tuition and more baby handprints, footprints and bum prints than you can count! Our kilns have been working every day, in a bid to meet everyone's orders. It's been tiring, but so fantastic to see the happy faces when the items are collected.
Finally, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the team at Saz's Ceramics & Crafts - thank you all for making our year incredible! As we head into 2022, with the threat of Covid restrictions still hanging over us, always remember that we are here to take your mind off things. Treat yourself to a bit of relaxation with an activity from Saz's Ceramics & Crafts!
