Carly's August Blogness
Hi everybody from somewhat frazzled potters! What can I say? The Summer holidays...... TALK ABOUT BUSY!! Saz, Eden and myself have been rushed off our feet and have pottery coming out of our ears. If Ladybird published a story about us now, it would be "The Magic Kiln" that overflows and has us disappearing under a pile of pots! I had a sort out the other day of customer pieces awaiting collection, and was astounded to discover that we had over 80 parcels. That's mammoth amounts of pottery which we are endeavouring to avoid crushing, sitting on, and squashing!
We have had an absolute ball with the children who signed up for our painting and clay play workshops through the Dudley HAF scheme. Over 60 kids came along and made some wonderful creations. The feedback we have had from the children, the parents and HAF has been amazing, and we shall be taking part again offering our workshops in the Christmas school holidays.
We are getting ever closer to our involvement in the Wordsley Community project. The planter, which we shall be providing glazed tiles for, has now been repaired and rendered, and approval has been given from DMBC for funding. Once the funds come through, we shall be up and running! The plan is to ask members of the community, such as schools, groups, local businesses and Holy Trinity Church to do their handprints on tiles in a rainbow of colours, with completion of the project estimated as Spring 2023.
As the Summer holidays draw to a close, our attention will be turning to the Autumn, Halloween and, dare we say it - Christmas! Yes - I went there!! For now, I'm off on my holidays for 2 weeks - Saz is whimpering slightly that I am abandoning her, so please be gentle with her whilst I'm away!
