New Year, New Me!

Go on then, admit it... you've made New Year's Resolutions, haven't you?

And if you're anything like me, you'll have broken them as quickly as you've made them, lol!

However, here's one resolution which you can, and really should keep to. Try to make 2016 the year to be kinder to yourself!

I think it's fair to say that modern life truly can be a bit rubbish, and it comes as little surprise to me that 'art therapy' anti-stress colouring books have become so popular in recent months. I have bought a few of these myself, but I enjoy designing the patterns more than colouring them in! I've also seen an increase in adult customers saying that they want a bit of 'me time' away from the daily grind. So, what better way of doing this and sticking to your resolution than to come to the studio and try something different?

With a variety of workshops and courses in clay, pottery painting and other crafts to choose from, there's something for everyone, no matter what age you are, or what experience you have. Let me whet your appetite:

  • 2 hr introduction to clay 'have a go' at making a coil pot and learn how to throw on the potter's wheel £20 adult, £15 child*

  • Half day (3 hours) extended introduction to clay, spending an hour on coiling, making a slab pot and learning to throw £30 adult, £22.50 child*

  • Full day (6 hours) intensive introduction to clay, in which you get a taster of a variety of pottery skills £60 adult, £45 child*

  • 10 week introduction to pottery skills course: each week you will explore a range of techniques, from bas relief to sculpture, slip casting to throwing and much more. In the last two weeks of the course you'll revisit your favourite aspects of the course to develop your skills further or to create a masterpiece! £100 adult, £75 child*

Don't like getting your hands dirty, but still want to be creative? Try one of the following:

  • 2 hr Twilight pottery painting for adults. This ever popular workshop is held once a month on the first Thursday from 6.30-8.30pm. Advance booking is required. Price starts from £15pp.

  • Full day (6 hours) pottery painting. A (fairly) intensive day of pottery painting! 2-3 masterpieces will be created, depending on how you get on! A great idea for team building, or for a thorough immersion into the art of pottery painting (alternative to a 'spa day' treat!) Oodles of great techniques and top tips! Adults only £60

  • 10 week introduction to glazing techniques: each week you will explore a range of techniques, from sponging to wax resist, from sgraffito to working with crystal glazes and more besides! In the last two weeks of the course you'll revisit your favourite techniques of the course to develop your skills further! £100 adults only.

And if that's not enough for you, then just call me! I'm always open to suggestions!
